The Ward’s Stanhopea orchids can be found in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela growing on trees and on rocks in humid cloud forests from 800 to 2700 meters of altitude. Their flowers release a strong but plesant sent and that sweet fragance attracts the bumble bees that pollinate them. Image taken in Altos del Maria, Panama at around 850 meters above sea level.
